George Ball was an American actor who had a long career in film and television. He was born on December 21, 1909 in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa and then moved to New York City to pursue an acting career. Ball made his Broadway debut in the play "The Great Adventure" in 1935. He went on to appear in numerous Broadway productions, including "The Petrified Forest" (1936), "The Man Who Came to Dinner" (1939), and "The Voice of the Turtle" (1943). Ball made his film debut in the 1940 film "The Great Dictator." He went on to appear in over 50 films, including "The Big Sleep" (1946), "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (1956), "The Magnificent Seven" (1960), and "The Great Race" (1965). Ball also had a long career in television, appearing in over 100 television shows, including "The Twilight Zone," "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour," "The Fugitive," "The Wild Wild West," and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." At the time of his death in 1991, Ball had appeared in over 200 films and television shows. He was 82 years old.
