Aimee Patricia Walker Pond was born totally deaf and completely blind in her right eye. In addition, she was born with hip dysplasia a condition in which her hips were not fully developed. At the time, doctors didn't give her much of a chance of having a normal life. She was told that she may never walk normal and that she would have cognitive impairments and delay. Aimee has fought through challenge after challenge, including multiple knee surgeries, a fractured ankle requiring reconstruction, shoulder, back, hip and wrist injuries. Throughout it all she maintained a positive attitude and truly has "No Excuses. "In overcoming many obstacles, she rose to the level of International Elite, competed internationally and was in the 2000 Olympic Trials (US Classic) though suffered a severe knee injury.
