Yvette Simpson is an American politician and lawyer who currently serves as the Vice Mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was elected to the Cincinnati City Council in 2011 and was re-elected in 2013 and 2017. She is the first African-American woman to serve as Vice Mayor of Cincinnati. Simpson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from Withrow High School in 1996. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati in 2000 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2003. Simpson is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cincinnati Bar Association, and the National Bar Association. She is also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Simpson is married to her husband, Michael Simpson, and they have two children. She is an active member of the community and has served on the boards of the Cincinnati Arts Association, the Cincinnati Museum Center, and the Cincinnati Zoo.
