Tammy Faye Bakker is an American singer, actress, and television personality. She is best known for her role as co-host of the television show The PTL Club with her then-husband, Jim Bakker. She was also a regular guest on the show, The 700 Club. Bakker was born in International Falls, Minnesota, and grew up in a strict Pentecostal home. She began singing in church at the age of three and was a member of the International Falls High School choir. She attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she met Jim Bakker. The two married in 1961 and moved to California in 1966. In 1974, Bakker and her husband founded the PTL Club, a Christian television show. The show was a success and Bakker became a household name. She was known for her bubbly personality and her signature mascara-laden eyelashes. In 1989, Bakker and her husband were forced to resign from the PTL Club after a financial scandal. Bakker later divorced her husband and moved to Florida. In the 1990s, Bakker returned to television with her own show, The Tammy Faye Show. She also appeared on the reality show, The Surreal Life, and the talk show, The View. Bakker has released several books, including Tammy: Telling It My Way and I Will Survive...And You Will Too! She has also released several albums, including Tammy Faye Sings and Tammy Faye Sings Again. Bakker has been married three times and has two children. She currently resides in Florida.
