In 2018, Shin was cast in the drama special The Hymn of Death in the role of Yun Sim-deok. She also starred in the romance comedy drama Still 17. The same year, she was cast in the legal film Innocence.

In 2017, she played her first leading film role in A Day. Shin then played a key figure in an acclaimed crime thriller series Stranger.
