He has also acted in numerous films, including El Super, La Gran Fiesta, and El Cuarto de Tula. Cordero was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1932. He began his career in the entertainment industry in the 1950s, working as a radio announcer and later as a television host. He then moved into film production, producing his first feature film, El Super, in 1971. Cordero has been nominated for several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for El Super in 1972. He has also been honored with the National Medal of Arts from the Puerto Rican government in 2009. Cordero is married to actress and singer, Lourdes Pérez. They have two children, Francisco and Lourdes.
