Onzlee Ware is an American politician who served in the North Carolina Senate from 2003 to 2013. He was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a degree in political science. He was first elected to the North Carolina Senate in 2002 and served until 2013. During his tenure, he served as the chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and was a member of the Senate Finance Committee. He was also a member of the North Carolina Legislative Black Caucus. Ware was a strong advocate for education reform and was a leader in the effort to pass the North Carolina Education Lottery. He also worked to pass legislation to increase the minimum wage and to expand health care coverage for children. Ware is married to his wife, Dr. Yvonne Ware, and they have two children. He is currently the president of the Onzlee Ware Foundation, which works to improve the lives of children in North Carolina.
