Mike Ayala is a retired American professional boxer who competed from 1979 to 1997. He held the WBA super featherweight title from 1984 to 1985. Ayala was born on January 19, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas. He began boxing at the age of 15 and had an amateur record of 30-2. He turned professional in 1979 and won his first professional fight by knockout. Ayala won the WBA super featherweight title in 1984 with a unanimous decision victory over Alfredo Layne. He defended the title twice before losing it to Rocky Lockridge in 1985. Ayala continued to fight until 1997, when he retired with a record of 44-7-1. He was inducted into the Texas Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011. Ayala is married and has three children. He currently resides in San Antonio, Texas.

On June 17, 1979 Ayala lost to WBC Featherweight Champion, Danny Lopez by KO in the 15th rd. This bout was Ring Magazine's Fight of the Year for 1979. On April 19, 1985 Ayala faced Juan Meza for the WBC super bantamweight title losing by TKO in round 6. In his final title attempt Ayala challenged WBA jr featherweight champion Louie Espinoza losing by KO in the 9th rd.
