Michael Palin is an English actor, writer, comedian, and television presenter. He is best known for being one of the members of the comedy group Monty Python, as well as for his travel documentaries. He has also written and starred in several films, including A Fish Called Wanda and Fierce Creatures. Palin was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, and attended Oxford University, where he studied modern history. After graduating, he joined the BBC, where he wrote and performed in the comedy series The Frost Report. He then joined the Monty Python team, writing and performing in the television series Monty Python's Flying Circus and the films Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and The Meaning of Life. In addition to his work with Monty Python, Palin has written several books, including his travel diaries, and has presented several television series, including Around the World in 80 Days, Pole to Pole, Full Circle, and Sahara. He has also appeared in several films, including A Fish Called Wanda, Fierce Creatures, and The Wind in the Willows. Palin has been married to Helen Gibbins since 1966, and they have three children. He was appointed a CBE in 2000 and was knighted in 2019.
