Leslie Banks was an English actor and director who was active in the film industry from the 1920s to the 1950s. He was born on 9 June 1890 in West Derby, Liverpool, England. He began his career as a stage actor in the early 1910s, and made his film debut in the silent film The Call of the Road (1920). He went on to appear in over 50 films, including The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), The 39 Steps (1935), Jamaica Inn (1939), and The Man in Grey (1943). He also directed several films, including The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) and Jamaica Inn (1939). Banks was married twice, first to actress Muriel Aked, and then to actress Mary Glynne. He died on 8 May 1952 in London, England.
