Leotis Harris is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. He is best known for his work with the group The Bar-Kays, which he joined in 1975. He has released several solo albums, including his debut album, "Leotis Harris and the Bar-Kays" (1977), and his most recent album, "The Best of Leotis Harris" (2015). Harris was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and began singing in church at the age of five. He attended Booker T. Washington High School, where he was a member of the school's choir. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force and served for four years. In 1975, Harris joined The Bar-Kays, a Memphis-based funk and soul group. He was the lead singer and songwriter for the group, and wrote many of their hits, including "Soul Finger," "Shake Your Rump to the Funk," and "Boogie Body Land." Harris left The Bar-Kays in 1982 and began a solo career. He released his debut album, "Leotis Harris and the Bar-Kays," in 1977. He has since released several solo albums, including "The Best of Leotis Harris" (2015). Harris has also worked as a producer, working with artists such as Isaac Hayes, Al Green, and The Staple Singers. He has also written and produced music for television and film, including the theme song for the television show "The Jeffersons." Leotis Harris (born June 28, 1955 in Little Rock, Arkansas) is a former American football offensive guard in the NFL. He played his entire six-year career for the Green Bay Packers. He attended the University of Arkansas. Harris is also a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks All-Century Team.
