Ken Selzer is an American politician and businessman who currently serves as the Kansas Insurance Commissioner. He was born in Goessel, Kansas, and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in accounting. He then went on to earn a master's degree in business administration from the University of Kansas. Selzer began his career in the insurance industry in 1979, working for a variety of companies in various roles. He eventually became the president and CEO of the Kansas Insurance Department in 2003. In 2014, he was appointed by Governor Sam Brownback to serve as the Kansas Insurance Commissioner. Selzer is a member of the Republican Party and has served on the Kansas State Board of Education, the Kansas Board of Regents, and the Kansas State Board of Tax Appeals. He is also a member of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents. Selzer is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children. He is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his family.
