Joan Petrone's extensive entertainment experience began at the age of three when being trained to act in nursery rhymes, in character and costume by her father. She studued acting under the tutelage of Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg. She studied dance with and under the direction of Josh Logan, Michael Kidd, Michael Todd and Hermes Pan. She studied Mime with Lotte Gosler. She danced and understudied on Broadway in various productions. In Canada, she appeared in summer stock productions at Mont Gabriel. She had stagehand training. She traveled with the USO as a dancer to entertain American Troops in Europe and Japan shortly after W. W. II. at age 18. She was the founder and former director of The New Studio of Drama (1960-61) in Hollywood.
