Jess McIntosh is an American political strategist and commentator. She is the former executive director of EMILY's List, a political action committee that works to elect pro-choice Democratic women to office. She is also a frequent political commentator on MSNBC and CNN. McIntosh was born in New York City and raised in the suburbs of New Jersey. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003 with a degree in political science. After college, she worked as a field organizer for the 2004 John Kerry presidential campaign. McIntosh then worked as a press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and as a communications director for the Democratic National Committee. In 2011, she joined EMILY's List as the organization's communications director. In 2014, she was promoted to executive director. In 2017, McIntosh left EMILY's List to become a senior advisor to the Democratic National Committee. She is currently a political commentator for MSNBC and CNN. McIntosh is married to fellow political strategist and commentator, Zac Petkanas. They have two children.
