George Bishop was an English actor who had a long and successful career in the theatre, film, and television. He was born on 4 September 1884 in Fulham, London, England, UK. He began his career in the theatre in 1906, and went on to appear in over 100 plays. He made his film debut in 1929, and went on to appear in over 50 films. He was best known for his roles in the films The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), The 39 Steps (1935), and The Lady Vanishes (1938). He also appeared in the television series The Avengers (1961-1969). Bishop was married twice, first to actress Winifred Shotter in 1910, and then to actress Mary Glynne in 1921. He had two children with his first wife, and one with his second. He died on 28 April 1972 in London, England, UK. At the time of his death, Bishop had an estimated net worth of $1 million.
