He is the brother of Blake Lively, who is also an actress. Eric was born on July 31, 1981, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Ernie and Elaine Lively. He has four siblings, including Blake Lively. He attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in business. Eric began his acting career in 2001 with a role in the television series, Boston Public. He then went on to appear in several films, including The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003), The Butterfly Effect (2004), and Accepted (2006). In addition to his acting career, Eric is also a producer and director. He has produced and directed several short films, including The Livelys (2005) and The Livelys: The Movie (2006). Lively appeared as Pink's on-screen boyfriend in her music video "Please Don't Leave Me" in 2009, with stuntman Justin Sundquist serving as his stunt double. In 2012, he guest starred in the Lifetime series The Client List. In 2013 Lively played in “A Madea Christmas” as Conner.
He guest starred on an episode of Full House at age 13, where he played Stephanie Tanner's first boyfriend. He had a role in American Pie (1999). He followed this up on the television series So Weird, on which he played Carey Bell from 2000 to 2001. He learned to play the guitar for his character on So Weird.
