Don Prudhomme is an American drag racer and former professional funny car driver. He is best known for his success in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and his rivalry with Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen. He is a four-time NHRA champion and was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2002. Prudhomme began his career in drag racing in the early 1960s, and quickly rose to prominence in the sport. He won his first NHRA championship in 1975, and went on to win three more in 1977, 1979, and 1981. He also won the NHRA's first Funny Car championship in 1975. Prudhomme retired from professional drag racing in 1994, but continued to be involved in the sport as a team owner. He currently owns the Don Prudhomme Racing team, which competes in the NHRA's Top Fuel and Funny Car classes. Prudhomme has an estimated net worth of $20 million.
