Lively began her career as a child actress, appearing in television commercials and guest starring on television shows such as The Love Boat and The Facts of Life. She made her feature film debut in the 1984 comedy The Wild Life. In 1989, Lively starred in the teen comedy Teen Witch and the martial arts sequel The Karate Kid Part III.
