Courtis Fuller is an American former professional football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Chicago Bears. He was born on January 26, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fuller attended the University of Cincinnati, where he was a two-time All-American defensive end. He was drafted by the Bengals in the fourth round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He played for the Bengals from 1979 to 1983, and then for the Bears from 1984 to 1986. Fuller was a two-time Pro Bowl selection, in 1981 and 1982. He was also named to the All-Pro team in 1981. He finished his career with 32 sacks and 11 fumble recoveries. In 2001, Fuller, a lifelong Democrat, ran as a Charterite candidate for the office of mayor of Cincinnati. The incumbent mayor was Charlie Luken, a former colleague of Fuller's in the WLWT newsroom. In the non-partisan primary election, Fuller managed a surprise first-place finish. However, in the general election, he received 45 percent of the vote to 55 percent by the incumbent Luken.
