Bill Anderson is an American country music singer, songwriter, and television personality. He has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1961 and has released more than 40 studio albums and over 80 singles. He has also written or co-written over 1,000 songs, including the No. 1 hits "Mama Sang a Song" and "Still". Anderson was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and began his career as a songwriter in the late 1950s. He signed with Decca Records in 1959 and released his first single, "City Lights", in 1960. He had his first Top 10 hit in 1962 with "Mama Sang a Song". He has since released over 40 studio albums and over 80 singles, including the No. 1 hits "Mama Sang a Song" and "Still". Anderson has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1961 and has been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
