She was born in 1980 in France and studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. She has conducted orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Matiakh has been the music director of the Orchestre National de France since 2017. She has also held the position of principal guest conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since 2018. In September 2018 she was appointed general music director of the Staatskapelle Halle. from 2018/2019 and already conducted three symphony concerts during the 2017/2018 season.
Her plans for 2017-2018 included conducting the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra (Smetana, Má vlast), the Rhine Opera (Werther), the Swedish Radio Orchestra (R. Strauss, Don Juan), the Gothenburg Opera (The Rite of Spring), the Duisburg Philharmonic (Bruckner's 6 symphony), the Nuremberg Philharmonic Orchestra with Nemanja Radulović as soloist. She also returned to the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra for a concert around Richard Strauss.
From 2015 to 2017 she conducted the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin on several occasions. (new recordings for the Capriccio label), the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra (Dvorak Légendes, premiere of Daniel Schnyder's Bassoon Concerto), the orchestra of the Capitole de Toulouse, the Paris Chamber Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Halle. She also played at the Gothenburg opera house (Madama Butterfly), at the Dutch National Ballet (The Nutcracker), at the Opéra de Nice (The Magic Flute), as well as at the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz for the opening concert of the Kurt Weill Festival in Dessau.
For the Capriccio label she has recorded works by Francis Poulenc and Jean Françaix with the piano duo Mona and Rica Bard, followed by a recording dedicated to the works of Johanna Doderer. (2015/2016).
Her replacement at a moment's notice for James Conlon in May 2006 in Shostakovich's 7th Symphony is highly noticed and marks the beginning of her international career.
From 2002 to 2005 she studied conducting at the Musik Hochschule in Vienna in the class of Leopold Hager and Yuji Yuasa and followed the advice of Seiji Ozawa in masterclasses.
