Anwar Hossain is a Bangladeshi politician and former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He was born on 1 March 1955 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is the son of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Anwar Hossain completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dhaka in 1975. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the same university in 1977. Anwar Hossain has been active in politics since the late 1970s. He was elected to the National Assembly of Bangladesh in 1979 and served as the Minister of State for Home Affairs from 1979 to 1981. He was appointed as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh in 1996 and served until 2001. Anwar Hossain is currently the Chairman of the Bangladesh Awami League, the ruling political party in Bangladesh. He is also the President of the Bangladesh Olympic Association. Anwar Hossain is married to Begum Hasina Wazed, the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. They have two children, Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Tariq Rahman. Anwar Hossain has an estimated net worth of $1.5 million.
